ETH Student Summer Research Fellowship
The ETH Student Summer Research Fellowship (ETH SSRF) programme offers undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to gain their first research experience in an area of their choice. The fellowship provided by the Computer Science Department of ETH takes place during two summer months and is open to all students worldwide, except for students enrolled at ETH Zurich. The department is committed to increasing diversity in the computer science area.

Twelve top research projects win millions in European funding
ETH Zurich and its researchers are among some of the biggest winners of this year’s ERC Advanced Grants: twelve researchers have been awarded the prestigious EU funding. Among the recipients are three researchers from the Department of Computer Science: Srdjan Capkun, Adrian Perrig and Bernhard Häupler. In total, the university will receive 31.5 million euros in funding.

Now, a new study by ETH Zurich has shown that users who want to develop apps and programs successfully with AI need not only a capacity for clear written expression, but also a basic knowledge of computer science.
Password managers less secure than promised
Researchers Matilda Backendal, Matteo Scarlata, Kenneth Paterson and Giovanni Torrisi from the Applied Cryptography Group at ETH Zurich have discovered serious security vulnerabilities in three popular, cloud-based password managers. During testing, they were able to view and even make changes to stored passwords.
