Modelica Library for Modeling Motorcycles

Introduction

MotorcycleLib offers a set of modules that support the modeling of motorcycles with virtual riders in an object-oriented manner. To this end, models of different degrees of complexity are being offered.

The library contains furthermore a series of application examples that demonstrate how these models can be used.

The library has been built on bond graph technology. For this reason, the libraries BondLib and MultiBondLib are also required.

The library contains only a very simple (ideal) wheel model. For increased realism, it is recommended to load the WheelsAndTires library as well.

Historical Development

Another free motorcycle library (MotorcycleDynamics) had been developed a few years ago by Filippo Donida at the Technical University of Milano.

The new motorcycle library has however been built from scratch. The library offers important improvements and enhancements in comparison with the earlier library.
