Michal Tešnar moved from the Czech Republic to Switzerland a year and a half ago. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Data Science at ETH Zurich while conducting AI research at a Zurich-based company. In this documentary, Michal shares his experience of settling into life in Zurich and reflects on the challenges of building a social life and making Swiss friends. In German.
On 24 June 2026, ETH Zurich inaugurated its new campus in Heilbronn, Germany, funded by the Dieter Schwarz Foundation. The campus will host professorships and research in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, strengthening ETH’s engagement in the European Research Area and promoting interdisciplinary digital innovation. Professor Torsten Hoefler, head of the Scalable Parallel Computing Laboratory (SPCL) at ETH Zurich and Chief Architect for Machine Learning at CSCS, co-authored a paper exploring how advances in CPUs, memory, and interconnects could shift HPC workloads away from GPUs, challenging their traditional dominance in scientific and AI computing.
