QS World University Rankings by Subject
QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) unveiled its 2024 World University Rankings by Subject. ETH Zurich landed with 3 subjects in the top spot. A further 14 placed within the top ten in the world, among them Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (rank 7) and Computer Science and Information Systems (rank 9).
Plug-and-play robots for material handling
Flink Robotics, a newly founded D-INFK spin-off, is crafting cutting-edge software for next-generation robots to enable automation anywhere and for everyone. Professor Stelian Coros, doctoral student Simon Huber and former postdoc Moritz Geilinger are the co-founders.
Finding and blocking infection routes in hospitals
During the COVID-19 pandemic, hospitals often became hubs of infection. Researchers from the Department of Computer Science at ETH Zurich, EPFL and the ISI Foundation are developing a wearable tracking system for healthcare facilities that can identify the risks of infections. Initial tests in Switzerland and Africa show its potential.
Premium chocolate production perfected: AI's role in quality excellence
Lindt & Sprüngli, a global leader in the premium chocolate sector, has partnered with EthonAI. The company is a spin-off from the Department of Management, Technology, and Economics and has Bernhard Kratzwald, an alumnus from the Department of Computer Science on board as a co-founder. Lindt & Sprüngli is leveraging EthonAI's tools to perfect the production of their chocolate and achieve best-in-class performance.
