Maciej Besta

Maciej Besta

I'm a 4th-year PhD student in the Scalable Parallel Computing Lab (SPCL) at ETH Zurich. I am fortunate to be advised by Prof. Torsten Hoefler and to be a part of the rich and vibrant SPCL and ETH research environments.

I am deeply interested in the following research domains:

  • Large-Scale Distributed-Memory Graph Processing [arXiv'16, HPDC'15, SC13, CACM]
  • High-Performance Networking [SC14]
  • Parallel Programming [HPDC'16, PACT'15, ICS'15, SC13, CACM]
  • Fault-Tolerance [ICS'15, HPDC'14]

Prior to coming to ETH, I spent several years at CERN in Geneva. Among others, I developed an event display system for the TOTEM Experiment in the Large Hadron Collider. While at CERN, I was lucky to be mentored by Dr. Hubert Niewiadomski. My stay at CERN resulted in my master thesis obtained from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Poland where I was fortunate to be advised by Prof. Ryszard Tadeusiewicz.

[PL: W związku z dyskusją w polskim świecie akademickim, jaka miała miejsce latem 2015, pozwalam sobie opublikować list w obronie profesora Ryszarda Tadeusiewicza.]
