Communications Office

The Communications Office coordinates all outward activities of the Department of Computer Science and maintains relations with schools, students and the industry. It also provides information about and for the department.

Activities

In its strategic, tactical and operational planning the Communications Group focuses on the following goals, priorities and activities:

Marketing and Event Management

• Consistent and ongoing implementation of the comprehensive and integrated cross-media strategy (including events, print, online and mobile media)
• Planning and managing various internal and external events throughout the year, such as “ETH on the road”, “Fit-in-IT” roadshows, Studieninformationstage, school visits, Masterdiplomfeier, Colloquium, “Treffpunkt Science City”, “Alumni Homecoming Day”, Departementsfest
• In line with the marketing mix: creation and production of national and international brochures for Bachelor and Master students, of online brochures focusing on continuing education for technology companies as well as various flyers and posters

PR and Media Relations

• Preparation of a richly diverse range of research topics for general and specialized media, as well as for different target groups, e.g. schools, general public, business and industry
• Active collaboration and support of ETH-central units in releasing corporate publications, such as ETH Life, ETH Globe, President’s Selection, image brochure
• Development and execution of the international media strategy

Online Media

• Enhancing the D-INFK website’s attractiveness with regard to visual appeal and content (e.g. by publishing articles, reports, interviews)
• Involvement and active participation in the ETH web relaunch project: planning, design and composition of D-INFK’s website
• Design of an integrated social media strategy in line with ETH’s newly created online guidelines

Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Management

• Setting up channels and infrastructures for recruiting highly qualified international PhD-students
• Identifying and establishing new contacts, as well as maintaining existing relations with key national and international stakeholders in academia, politics, business and industry
