Varia

Beyond my involvement in research and teaching, I also engaged in other activities.
  • From June 2009 until November 2010, I have been the acting president of the Association of Academic Staff of the Department of Computer Science at ETH Zurich (VMI) , which represents more than 230 PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. Prior to my appointment as president, I acted as vice-president (2008-2009) and board member (2007-2008).
  • In 2008 I received a student participation scholarship for the 38th St.Gallen Symposium, with the essay entry titled "The Power of Values: Creating Value for Shareholders, Customers, and Employees."
  • In 2007 I have been one of the winners of the venture leaders award (Sponsors: venturelab / Gebert Rüf Foundation). The price included sponsored entrepreneurship courses at Babson College and Cambridge Innovation Center in Boston, USA (incl. travel, lodging). A great experience!
  • Throughout my years as research and teaching assistant at the ETH Zurich, I was actively engaged in the promotion of Computer Science and Engineering as a field of study. In this context, I gave a number of interviews and held talks in front of high school students and the general public.
