Research Themes
Markerless Motion Capture (2008)
The project aims to infer the poses of a character acting in a environment filmed by a set of video cameras. Once the poses are estimated, a free-viewpoint video of the entire action is genertated. (read more...)
Passive 3D reconstruction (2006)
The project aims to automatically infer the shape of a static object from a set of pictures. The challenge is to use different shape cues together in a single minimization procedure to increase the accuracy of the shape estimation. In particular, in this project, the stereo cue is used together with the silhouettes and shadows cues. The reconstruction pipeline is the following:
Frog model [WRL]
(silhouette + texture)
Cube model [WRL]
(silhouette + texture + shadow)
Statue model [WRL]
(silhouette + texture)
Asteroid shape analysis (2007)
Motion recovery and 3D reconstruction of the asteroids Steins and Lutetia observed by the Rosetta spacecraft during its journey started in 2004.
Older Projects
3DE Tracker (2006)
"3DE Tracker" is an automatic tracking system for football match analysis. This software is currently used for the Italian Premier League and the Champions League.
3DEverywhere s.r.l. (http://www.3deverywhere.com)
Real-Time Log Texturizer (2005)
Realtime high resolution and photo-realistic reconstruction of logs textures for quality control. The software is integrated in
the SCREENLOG hardware produced by MiCROTEC (http://www.microtec.eu).
