Computer Science as Enabling Technology is a strategic topic of the Department of Computer Science at ETH Zurich.

This paradigm has been the premise for our work during the past two decades.

We have approached it on different fronts:

• Data Management:dynamic, multidimensional file structures
• Multidimensional Data Visualization for exploratory data analysis
• Computer supported CS-instruction for natural science and engineering students
• Supporting collection-based research and teaching
