"Pizza and Posters", December 3rd 2008. The TI groups Widmayer, Welzl, Steger, Sbalzarini and Hromkovic got together at lunch time on the H floor of the CAB building to get to know each other and the other groups' current research projects.

Socializing and exchange between the groups was an important part of "Pizza and Posters"...	...Hopefully events like this will take place more often!

Andries van Dam from Brown University was appointed ETH Honorary Doctor at ETH Day on November 22nd 2008 for his achievements as outstanding computer scientist and leading authority in graphics and interactive systems. On November 24th he gave the talk "When is the Pen Mightier than the Keyboard?" in the CS Colloquium.

Within the year of informatics 'informatica08' the department of computer science organized the roundtable discussion "Informatik im Dreieck von Wirtschaft, Bildung und Politik" on November 12th, to discuss educational policy in the light of the needs and views of industry and academy. Another important focus was on technology education in high schools.

The foundation Dr. J.E. Brandenberger awarded Prof. em. Carl August Zehnder for his long time commitment to Computer Science in
Switzerland with a prize money of CHF 200'000. The award ceremony was held at 25 Oktober 2008 in the Semperaula at ETH.

The Tai Chi demo by Dennis Majoe and Lars Widmer	...and the performance "dance with me" used motion sensors
The dyslexia software Dybuster as well as the...	...appointment tool Doodle were very popular among the public
The stand "Kreativität und Diversität" was run by mostly female Phd students.	Ivo Sbalzarini explained the pictures of the exhibition "Proteins - invisible beauties"
Other highlights were the "Experimental Chemistry Show" and...	...Prizes, such as a "candle light dinner"

10'000 visitors among them 2000 high school students came to "Tag der Informatik" at Technopark Zurich.

'Battle Tinker', a construct-your-own-spaceship adventure...	The impressed audience in the packed auditorium gave the Public Award...
...to 'E', featuring a cute monster struggling in a fantasy world.	The Jury Award went to "Sea Blast" for its great physics and sound
