"Pizza and Posters", December 3rd 2008. The TI groups Widmayer, Welzl, Steger, Sbalzarini and Hromkovic got together at lunch time on the H floor of the CAB building to get to know each other and the other groups' current research projects.

Andries van Dam from Brown University was appointed ETH Honorary Doctor at ETH Day on November 22nd 2008 for his achievements as outstanding computer scientist and leading authority in graphics and interactive systems. On November 24th he gave the talk "When is the Pen Mightier than the Keyboard?" in the CS Colloquium.

Within the year of informatics 'informatica08' the department of computer science organized the roundtable discussion "Informatik im Dreieck von Wirtschaft, Bildung und Politik" on November 12th, to discuss educational policy in the light of the needs and views of industry and academy. Another important focus was on technology education in high schools.

The foundation Dr. J.E. Brandenberger awarded Prof. em. Carl August Zehnder for his long time commitment to Computer Science in
Switzerland with a prize money of CHF 200'000. The award ceremony was held at 25 Oktober 2008 in the Semperaula at ETH.
