Planning Your Master Studies - Registration for Master Studies in Computer Science
This checklist outlines the administrative steps necessary for your Master's studies. For planning, please read the 'Planning' section 3 in the Master Study Guide carefully. ETH Computer Science Bachelors are admitted automatically and can register for the Master directly via www.mystudies.ethz.ch, all others need to apply.

- Personal Study Plan for your Master’s studies
- Approval of your Personal Study Plan (Study plan and and Registration form signed by Mentor)
- Internal Registration (Registration of Personal Study Plan at D-INFK - Administration Office) within first two weeks of semester
- Enroll for Courses and Examinations via www.mystudies.ethz.ch (requires nethz password) within first two weeks of semester
- Register for examinations - via e-mail you will be asked to register online in mystudies for the examinations
- Written agreement with your supervisor on the task and the assessment scheme of Master Thesis + Internal Registration Form (D-INFK Administration Office) to be signed by supervisor. A professor associated with the chosen Focus Area supervises the thesis (usually mentor and supervisor are not identical persons).
- Admission to and Registration for the Master’s Thesis at D-INFK (hand in form and aggreement above not later than one week after starting your thesis!)

- We strongly recommend that you begin your thesis after having completed most of the 60 credits. The Master's thesis takes six months of work. At most one or two courses may be visited concurrently.
The minimal prerequisites for the Master’s thesis registration are:
- Completed Bachelor’s program
- All additional requirements completed (additional requirements according to the admission degree)
- Inter Focus Courses (12 credits) completed
- Focus Courses (26 credits) completed
- Writing a Master’s thesis in the industry is possible, provided that a professor of D-INFK supervises the thesis and your mentor approves it.
- Master Thesis Completion. In order to successfully complete the Master’s thesis a grade of 4.0 or higher must be obtained. In case of failure, the Master’s thesis can be repeated once, and another project has to be found.

- Request for the Master’s degree (to be printed out from mystudies filled, signed and handed in personally)
- Deregistration (automatically after handing in the request)
- Final record reception (by mail)
