Introduction to Studies at D-INFK ETH

Being one of the world-leading technical universities, the ETH Department of Computer Science (D-INFK) commits to top education in computer science and engineering, covering the core fields of computer science and interdisciplinary fields such as bioinformatics, computational science, robotics, systems control and even didactics.

ETH is one of the top places to study Computer Science in Europe and worldwide. The quality of the curricula, an excellent reputation in the academic field as well as ETH's connections to international industrial branches are factors which open doors to successful careers in a vast range of professional contexts.

We believe that our future technologies will more and more depend on progress in the quality of how computer science is implemented, how inventively it is applied and how we can cultivate those visions that change our instruments and environment. At ETH D-INFK, we build our teaching on deep competence with respect to today's technological state of the art, and we focus on persistent scientific foundations and on generalizable, most flexibly applicable knowledge with the goal of optimally preparing engineers who are able to master their future work on cutting edge technologies.

Students at ETH benefit from the proximity to groundbreaking academic and industrial research, and from ETH's collaborations and relations with national and international companies, such as Google, Microsoft and Disney. Additionally, the wide spectrum of professional fields includes the financial and management sector, research in interdisciplinary fields, such as health care or industrial production systems, and moreover enumerate innovative niches for specific IT applications, products and services.

ETH Computer Science commits to a high standard of technical education in systems and software engineering, in computational science and in mathematical theory of computer science. Our graduates have the best cards to enter an IT company or alternatively to pursue an academic career.

The creative work on future technologies combined with a profound technical understanding will continue to affect our culture and our lives in many ways that are to be discovered.
