Forms of employment as a student assistant at the D-INFK

Employment as a student assistant at the Department of Computer Studies is paid at an hourly rate of SFr.30.-. The SFr. 30.- per hour consist of SFr. 27.69 as a base rate and SFr. 2.31 vacation compensation. From these 30.- are deducted: 5.05% AHV (basic state pension), 1.5% ALV (unemployment insurance) and 0.397% NBU (off-the-job accident insurance). Earnings are paid out the following month (i.e. November’s hours in December, December’s in January and so on).Hiring is taken care of by Ms. Sile Hasler (CAB F 62, Telephone: 63 27201, hasler@inf.ethz.ch). First-time applications must be accompanied by a completed ETH personnel form (PDF, 25 KB).

Foreign students with a B permit must apply for an additional permit at the «Fremdenpolizei». The first page of the permit application form must be filled out by the student and signed on the second page under «Unterschrift Arbeitnehmer/in». This permit permit application form (PDF, 129 KB) must be handed in with the ETH personnel form and a copy of the residence card for foreigners (Ausländerausweis). For students from EU countries the same rules as for swiss students are applied.

Hiring formalities must be completed before the beginning of the term.
Note: the hiring procedure for foreign students can take from four to six weeks.
