Spin-Offs
Company spin-offs from ETH are one direct and very effective form of technology and knowledge transfer that boost the innovative strength of Switzerland's economy. Academic spin-offs are, besides sale of licenses and partnerships with other companies, a third method of technology transfer. It can be considered the most challenging type of commercialization as the technology, the market, and the company itself all must be developed from scratch. This is where the "ETH transfer" office supports the highly motivated scientists in setting up their start-up enterprise with external partners.
